The Way (and Sound) of Water

Margaritaville, along the shoreline at Panama City Beach. The second installment of the film Avatar carried the subtitle, The Way of Water. While I remain a fan of this epic story and yes, I just read about the third installment planned for release late next year, it didn’t escape my attention that much that occupied mine and Margo’s time had to do with water. Making a move from the mountains to the sea has a certain poetic ring about it and for us, it’s a story that has only just begun. We left our Longmont, Colorado, condo early in July and now, well into August, we can write about our plans for the future with more certainty. Central to these plans will be our move to Water Sound, Florida. As for our choice of location, having gone back and forth on our options as you tend to do before making a serious move to places unknown, we have settled on a new build in the development, Latitude Margaritaville Water Sound (LMWS). Extra-sunny days meant bubbles coming from the train a...

Blue skies? Nothing but blue skies do I see!

"Blue days All of them gone Nothing but blue skies From now on.” -  Irving Berlin I am always told that when it comes to looking on the brights side, do so with caution as you may risk inviting adversity back into your life. On the other hand, it’s fair to step outside your comfort zone occasionally and reflect on life’s journey. This time last year we were simply cruising along, looking forward to yet one more conference and a break from daily routines. Imagining the changes we have made in just six months just wasn’t something we were giving any thought to; and then it all changed. Margo and I had built a house on a golf course in the city of Windsor. This House of Windsor, as we are now referring to the home we created and lived in for seven plus years, was to be our place of refuge in our twilight years. But then, for Margo, along came COVID not once but twice and our situation took an unexpected turn that left us rethinking everything about the life we had planned to liv...

Can you hear me now?

First ride with driver / passenger intercom activated The age-old question from all those who drive a lot, ride motorcycles or went to one too many concerts, is more common in this case, did you say something? What was that you just said? For Margo and me life hasn’t just been a journey figuratively, it has been literally our reality for more than two decades. As you can guess, long distance driving gives you plenty of time to converse but with modern sports cars and indeed higher performing SUVs, cabin noise isn’t suited at all for long conversations. How many miles has it been? Shortly, we will be returning to Florida. An almost 2,000-mile road trip in our Jaguar F Pace SVR. A repeat of the trip we did earlier in the year but this, bypassing Atlanta and Tampa and driving directly to Florida’s Emerald Coast. Some may observe that with age comes wisdom. Not sure who they are but it’s not something Margo or I have managed to achieve. What is the saying? We are growing older, b...

We just keep on moving; all the while the miles add up!

Movin' right along in search of good times and good news With good friends you can't lose This could become a habit! The focus on movement continues. It has its variations but movement is so important for all of us. Whether you consider this in the context of our physical wellbeing or the pleasure we derive from a constantly changing landscape, ignoring any deep-seated desire to remain stationary is an integral part of our makeup. Call it what you want, but what is around the corner or on the other side of the hill is what drives us. Perhaps the grass is much greener somewhere else, but before we can add anything further, we have to move and see for ourselves. Consider this post as the third in a sequence documenting movement. When Margo and I look back on what took place in 2024, I suspect the overriding theme will be movement. Or, more precisely, the many moves we made. Home front; vacations and travel, we have already addressed the move to our Longmont, Colorado, condo...
